At the core of Metric Iron Racing is founder and owner Ben Cook — a lifelong gearhead who was born with a wrench in his hand. Ben's passion for performance and problem-solving started early at just 15 years old when he got his first car. Which demanded constant improvements and forced him to learn quickly. What began as necessity, soon became obsession, and Ben spent countless hours teaching himself how to diagnose, repair, and improve anything mechanical.

In 2006, Ben began working for Patten Industries in Rockford, Illinois. Which is where he expanded his technical knowledge and building real-world experience in diesel technology and heavy equipment systems. During that time, he also attended Illinois Central College and studied to become a Certified Caterpillar Diesel Technician, graduating in 2008. The combination of hands-on experience and formal technical training helped shape the meticulous work ethic and attention to detail that Metric Iron Racing is known for today.

By 2010, Ben was ready to walk away from the security of a traditional day job to build Metric Iron Racing. What started as a passion-driven risk, evolved into a respected performance and fabrication shop. Known for precision work, honest service, and a relentless commitment to doing things the right way.

Today, Ben continues to lead Metric Iron Racing with the same mentality that started it all: work hard, build it better, and never stop learning. Whether it’s race car fabrication, performance tuning, custom projects, or high-end street cars, his focus remains the same. Deliver quality work backed by real experience and genuine passion for motorsports.
